Our customers value the warm friendly welcome, the professionalism and enthusiasm of everybody, great tours of the historic collection and visiting exhibitions and the wonderful programme of events. They also love the riverside café which serves wonderful food by local producers and the great selection of gifts from the gift shop.
How will winning “Best Culture, Hospitality and Tourism Award” affect your business?
It will raise the profile of the museum further, positioning the museum as a key cultural destination and increase visitors locally, nationally and internationally.
What/Who inspired you to start The Hunt Museum?
The Hunt Museum is one of Ireland’s greatest private collections of Arts and Antiquities donated to the Mid-West Region by John and Gertrude Hunt. Their wish was to share these wonderful works and for the museum to be a rich cultural resource for everybody.
What is the biggest lesson you have learnt in business?
You must always maintain a very high standard in all areas and cater for as wide an audience as possible by offering a very good and varied programme of exhibitions, tours of the collection and Education and public programmes.
Any advice for new business owners just getting started?
Do market research, work extremely hard and ensure your offering is of a very high standard.
What is your proudest moment as a business owner?
We are all very proud to have won the Best Culture, Hospitality and Tourism Award and are very proud as a leading Irish Cultural Institution that we contribute culturally, educationally and socially to so many people in Limerick, nationally and internationally.
