Winning this award is a reflection of our efforts in making our businesses one of the best in the City. It shows present and potential customers that we have a business that is respected in our local business community and operate to high standards.
What/Who inspired you to start Flannerys Bar?
Our Father, Michael Flannery who has deep ties to the Licensed Trade with a business started in 1898 by his Grandfather who opened the first Flannerys Bar. Dad opened his first Pub in Limerick in 1958 and still works with us today in Flannerys Bar in Upper Denmark St.
What is the biggest lesson you have learnt in business?
Working our way through the recession was very challenging. We had to adapt to a complete change in our business in how we funded further investment, new customer expectations and coming up with new and innovative marketing strategies.
Any advice for new business owners just getting started? Know and identify your market and most importantly….”Listen to your customers”.
What is your proudest moment as a business owner?
Winning the Limerick Chamber award for “Best Family Business” last week ranks right up there as one of our best days yet.
