Action Plan for Jobs 2013 Welcomed

22 February 2013:  Chambers Ireland has welcomed the publication of the Action Plan for Jobs 2013 and encouraged the Government to ensure that major reforms are implemented in a timely manner.

Ian Talbot, Chambers Ireland Chief Executive said “This latest Action Plan for Jobs outlines a number of key reforms which will do much to create the right environment for job creation. Reforms such as the creation of incentives to get those in long term unemployment back to work could have a significant impact. Chambers Ireland has long supported the reduction of the administrative burden placed on business and policies such as an Integrated Licensing Application System and increasing the number of businesses trading online are steps in the right direction. Making it easier and more cost effective to do business will enhance competitiveness and support job growth.”

“Along with these reforms, the plan outlines the delivery of a range of new funding measures to improve access to finance for SMEs. This plan sets out a range of targets which, if implemented correctly and efficiently, will support job creation and competitiveness. We encourage businesses to engage with any initiatives which may be of benefit to them.”

“However, the ultimate metric of success will be determined by progressive reductions in the numbers on the live register over the life time of the Action Plan,” he concluded.
