GDPR itself came into law in May 2016 and takes effect on 25th May 2018. The new regulation stipulates many new obligations on data controllers and processors on the handling of personal data and, more importantly on being able to evidence compliance.
Companies and professionals who previously may not have given this much consideration in the past are now obliged by the law to do so. Therefore, non-compliance is not an option. This presents challenges to many, already hard pressed, professionals and companies to implement the regulation and evidence compliance.
