Limerick Chamber Calls for Businesses to Enter Awards

Limerick Chamber has launched the 2014 Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards today, in association with award sponsors LIT and launch sponsors Vhi Healthcare of Limerick, to honour excellence and innovation in business.

The Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards aim to celebrate the achievements of companies in the region and to recognise their vital contribution to the economy.

Speaking at the launch, Cathal Treacy, Limerick Chamber President, said: “I would encourage any company that is interested in progressing their business, telling their story to a wider audience and recognising the achievements of their team, to apply for the 2014 Awards. The testimonials from past winners speak volumes – simply being shortlisted has brought many benefits to companies. Not only do companies get valuable promotional opportunities, the process of applying for an award has helped companies to step back and look back at their successes, progress and areas for improvement.”

Dr Maria Hinfelaar, President, LIT, overall sponsors of the Awards, said: “LIT is delighted to partner with Limerick Chamber in recognising the success and achievements of businesses in our region.  As sponsors of these awards for the fourth year running, we honour companies who are thriving and successfully contributing to our economy.”

In total, there are seven categories in the 2014 Awards;

  • Best Start-up / Emerging Business
  • Best SME Business
  • Best Large Business
  • Best Corporate Social Responsibility Business / Project
  • Best Service Business
  • Best Retail & Hospitality Business
  • Best Sport, Art & Culture Award

Media sponsors Limerick Leader and Limerick’s Live 95FM will profile each of the companies shortlisted for the awards.

Testimonial from past winner:

Winning the Best SME in the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards has been fantastic for Carambola. It is one thing working hard believing you’re doing a good job and another thing entirely when your peers – people who understand what it takes – acknowledge that you are working hard and doing a good job. In competitive terms it sets Carambola head and shoulders above the rest of the field in our industry space. In company terms it gives the team, the staff, a reason to be proud of the work they have put in.

In my opinion the process of entering for the awards is as important as being shortlisted or winning. Entering the awards process forces entrepreneurs and managers to review their business critically and, win or lose, will provide in-depth information to the discerning leader as to any potential shortcomings. So whether you come away with an accolade or not, your understanding of your business will be enhanced.

Business is not a spectator sport. Get involved. Throw your hat in the ring. Enter your business. I guarantee you’ll get something out of the process. It might even be Best in Class!”

Colm O’Brien, Carambola Kidz
