National Workplace Wellbeing Day Friday April 13th

Today (Friday April 13th) is National Workplace Wellbeing Day.

It is the day where employers across the country are being called on to stop for a minute to consider their staff’s mental and physical wellbeing.

Unfortunately, we live in a time when burnout and workplace stress are all too common. We live in a very fast and closely connected world, and there can be immense pressure from employers to always be ‘on’.

This can lead to unrealistic expectations from employers, toxic workplace environments, stressful performance reviews, and a distinct lack of work-life balance.

However, these issues have also created a national awareness that more attention and care need to be paid to workplace wellbeing.

With the pensionable age in Ireland now at 65, most of us will be working for a very long time, so it is important that our workplaces are healthy and happy places to be.

The penny is also now dropping with employers. With 60% of all lost working days attributed to work related stress, businesses just can’t afford not to look after their staff.

Ibec and Food Drink Ireland has called on employers across the country to sign up for Ireland’s 4th National Workplace Wellbeing Day.

Thousands of employers have already participated in this annual campaign, which aims to improve employee wellbeing by promoting physical activities and healthy eating in the workplace.

With all of this in mind, we wanted to tell you about member “My Mind’s Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides wellbeing support in the workplace.

We have to remember that workplace wellbeing is not just for one day. It’s a culture that workplaces should promote and nurture every day of the year.

Our service is provided by counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists experienced in dealing with a wide range of issues, such as stress, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and communication issues, burnout, bereavement and many more.

We provide workplaces with:

Counselling packages: This exclusive workplace package offers employers the flexibility to respond to their team’s needs and gives employees the opportunity to select which mental health professional they meet with.

Wellbeing workshops: MyMind provides bespoke talks and workshops in the workplace on mental health topics such as stress management, mindfulness and building emotional resilience. We design the talk or workshop around your needs and expectations and offer a free consultation with our team to create the most effective content for your team
