New President for Limerick Chamber

6 March 2014:  Cathal Treacy, an Audit Partner with Deloitte, was confirmed as the new President of Limerick Chamber at a board meeting this morning.  He was presented with the chain of office by outgoing president Dr Fergal Barry.  Catherine Duffy, Northern Trust, was confirmed as Vice President of Limerick Chamber.

Speaking about his aspirations for the new role, Mr Treacy said, “My focus for the year ahead will be to build on the foundations of our three year strategic plan which were laid down last year.  So that means a strong emphasis on; helping our 450+ members do more business, developing the business potential of Limerick, the efficiency of our chamber, the effectiveness of the supports our members receive and the impact of our policy work on behalf of our members.  We are a member centric organisation; we need to be an organisation continually evaluating and strategically looking at where we can develop our support services to help businesses grow.“

“For 2014 and beyond our focus will remain on ensuring that our members can continue to operate in a competitive business environment, in a vibrant city that is well connected both nationally and internationally, with an educated workforce. On the back of some very successful lobbying campaigns in 2013 – from the increase in the VAT cash-flow thresholds to the substantial reduction in the commercial rate – we hope to build and expand on this as we play our role in representing business and supporting and facilitating employment growth and enterprise development,” he continued.
