Tax scheme to support investment in City

Press Release

Limerick Chamber has today (6th May 2015) called on individuals and companies to examine the opportunities the Living City Initiative brings as a tax effective means to live and/or invest in Limerick City.

Speaking about the scheme recently launched by the Department of Finance, Limerick Chamber CEO Dr. James Ring said “The Living City Initiative is something which Limerick Chamber has lobbied for and consulted on, over the past number of years.  We welcome the dual residential and commercial elements of the scheme, and now call on individuals and companies to explore the opportunities this scheme brings – it is very tax effective investment and is a valuable means to regenerate and reinvigorate our city centre.

“The commercial element of the initiative provides for capital allowances over a seven year period with a tax relief of up to €200,000 available for any individual project; while the residential element provides an income tax deduction over a 10 year period.

Limerick has a unique and significant stock of historical buildings and this scheme is a unique tax effective way to return these assets to 21st century uses. This initiative is an urban regeneration incentive and an opportunity to bring life back into the heart of our city” concluded Dr. Ring.
